Manufacturer will deliver operations and maintenance to the 100MW Jeju Hallim project from 2024
Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction has signed a 20-year service agreement with Korea Midland Power (KOMIPO) to provide operations and maintenance for the 100MW Jeju Hallim offshore wind farm.
The contract is valued at KRW180bn (€135m), Doosan said.
Jeju Hallim is being developed in waters close to Hallim Port in the northwestern part of Jeju island off South Korea.
It will feature 18 Doosan 5.5MW turbines and is expected to be operational in 2024.
The project is owned by Jeju Hallim Offshore Wind Power Company, which was formed by Korea Electric Power Corporation, KOMIPO, Hyundai Engineering & Construction and KEPCO E&C.
EPC work will be carried out jointly by Hyundai E&C, KEPCO E&C and Korea Leading Energy Management.
Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction power services business group chief executive Hongook Park said: “Backed by our accomplishments of successfully supplying and operating wind turbines for the Jeju Tamra offshore wind farm and Southwest offshore wind farm, we were able to also win the O&M service agreement for the Hallim offshore wind farm soon after winning the supplier agreement for this project.
“By leveraging our strong track record and applying Korea’s largest offshore wind turbine, the 8MW model, which is currently undergoing a demonstration run, Doosan plans to further solidify its position as Korea’s leading offshore wind power company.”
